In 2022, a group of kindred spirts came together to form Ashland Together, a group dedicated to creating a more inclusive Ashland for everyone. In 2024, Ashland Together partnered with the Oregon Remembrance Project to bring the Sunrise Project to Ashland. Once a sundown town, the Ashland Sunrise Project strives to create a new identity in town as that of a "sunrise community," the opposite to a sundown town--a place in which everyone can feel safe, respected, and like they can call this space their home.
