Beauty from Ashes has big plans in the coming year. While their program to date has been providing assistance in the form of food, medications, transport and training, they have come to realize the biggest need is greater medical care closer to home, especially for children.

Currently people must travel to Jinja town for any procedures that require admission or assistance throughout the night. Beauty from Ashes families are currently located up to a distance of 20km (12miles) away from Jinja to get to the nearest 24/7 clinic. There is little to no public transport at night and walking in the night, especially when you’re ill or pregnant, is not safe or manageable. The costs for care are also greater than what can often be afforded. The government run hospitals are currently on strike, but even when they are running, all supplies must be provided and doctors are very few.

And so begins the dream. BFA plans to build a small hospital that caters specifically to pregnant women and children (in terms of admission), but with an outpatient clinic for everyone. BFA has teamed up with a local doctor who is currently running a hospital in the Karamojong District. Once their buildings are almost completed he will come handle the registration, staffing and oversight of this hospital project.

This year, the goal is to close the funding gap in creating a local hospital with quality services, providing around the clock care at an affordable price for those in the community. That is the dream.

Three BFA children have passed this year, all of whom fell ill during the night with no way to get the treatment needed in time. That is why this dream is close to our hearts at Boutique Boudoir. We believe everyone should have access to emergency medical care, especially pregnant women and children.

That's why we need your help to build this hospital. We believe collecting $10,000 USD to help Beauty from Ashes in raising funds for Phase 1 of their project will expedite the process and save the lives of women and children in BFA's district.

What will $10,000 provide?

·     $1,300 - Will provide the team with a boda boda (motorbike) as a great deal of costs are spent on the hiring of one due to almost daily trips to the land, families and kid’s clubs. It will also be used to get very sick patients and urgent materials to the hospital.

·     $8,700 - This figure should cover almost HALF of the costs of the bricks, timber, metal sheeting and labour.
