Hey friends and family I'm thrilled and humbled by an opportunity to travel to Kigali City, Rwanda this Summer! I'm taking a trip there with 10 other women of color from all over the US. Our team will facilitate entrepreneurial workshops with women in Africa New Life’s vocational training programs, experience the Kigali Genocide Memorial, share in mentoring sessions with high school girls, and participate in learning sessions on reconciliation and healing. This is the first trip of its kind with Africa New Life, where black women from America and black women in Rwanda can connect, learn and serve together.
Rwanda is a country that has endured great tragedy, genocide and violence, but it is also a country that has traveled and is traveling the long road of healing, peace and reconciliation. My hope is to listen intently, eagerly serve and gain a rich new perspective on a beautiful country I've only see in pictures and video. The women of Rwanda are already educated, empowered, and encouraged and have grown and changed their communities for the better and each dollar you give is supporting the betterment of communities in Rwanda.
Service is a natural part of who I am instilled in me from my mother and years of girl scouting. It's been a dream of mine to serve in this capacity and many of us have asked ourselves how we can support justice and community building here and abroad. I can't think of a better way to celebrate my 40th year of life and I hope that you will consider being part of this great privilege and opportunity with me. Your generous donation of any amount is tax deductible and will go towards the cost of my trip, and any money raised above and beyond will be used to sponsor more women in Africa New Life vocational training programs and help others in need. Would you consider clicking here and making a donation? Will you also please share this with others who may want to contribute financially and in prayer as I embark on this journey?
The trip is in July and will be led by 2 lovely women, Latasha Morrison who leads an amazing group called Be the Bridge that inspires racial reconciliation and unity right here in America; where we've seen such a growing divide. And Amena Brown, a poet, author and speaker, she went for the 1st time last year. I was inspired as she vividly recalled sharing her poetry to a room of 150 beautiful, brilliant and inquisitive high school girls.
Thank you so much for being a part of my life and helping me accomplish something so important!
