Give a family in Kenya access to a sustainable light source!
$50 will provide one large solar light for a family in need in rural Kenya.
The Problem
Families in CDFI's program in rural Kenya, all of whom have at least one child with a disability, currently burn a crude candle or lantern at night using kerosene. This produces a lot of unhealthy soot in their small homes, and is not good for the children or their families - the soot can cause chest congestion and eye problems.
In addition, the kerosene is expensive and families must continually find money to buy more - money that could be better spent on food, business enterprises, and family supplies.
A more sustainable lighting source at night is vital for the health and well being of the children in our program!
A Solar Solution
CDFI is providing solar lights for the families in our Kenya program. These lights only need to charge for 1 hour in direct sunlight (not a problem in Kenya) in order to provide 8 hours of light. This is a sustainable solution that eliminates the need to buy kerosene, and will positively impact the lives of the children in our program.
We need your help!
Just $50 will provide one large solar light for a family in need. Please donate today so we can purchase 150 solar lights for families caring for children with disabilities in Kenya!
P.S.
CDFI is a 501c(3) charity, and your donation is tax-deductible. 97% of funds raised go directly towards programs which improve the lives of children with disabilities around the world.
