Iquitos, located in
Northeastern Peru, is the country’s largest rain forest city, and although
it can only be reached by air or sea, it is a critical hub for travel into the secluded
villages that populate the Peruvian Amazon. Because of the Amazon region’s
remoteness, widespread poverty, and shortage of medical workers and supplies,
many residents’ basic health care needs are unmet. Most people cannot afford to
see a doctor or utilize the very few clinical services that are available.
These barriers to health care mean that many people suffer from preventable and
treatable health conditions; common ailments, such as a respiratory infection
or dysentery, can develop into life threatening illnesses. On my expedition we
will host a series of medical and eye care clinics in and around Iquitos where
residents can receive free exams, medications, and eyeglasses. We will also be
visiting homes to get to know people in the villages, as well as organizing
children’s ministry activities. As we serve the people of the Peruvian Amazon, it
will provide new opportunities to share the Gospel with them.
I’m thrilled about the experience that lies
ahead! I hope you see the
value in what we will accomplish. The
importance of prayer for our ministry, medical care, travel, and that which God
intends to accomplish through us, is absolutely essential.
As you can imagine, a trip like this also requires financial support
from a number of people. I write
this to ask that you consider partnering with me on this mission trip through
not only your prayers but also financial contributions. I believe God has
called me to go but this can only happen if others will join my sending team of
spiritual and financial supporters.
I am eager for your prayer support and partnership in this
ministry, and I greatly value your help in this venture of faith! Thank you so
much!
