Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising site! My name is Cheyenne Godwin, and I am a first-year pharmacy student at McWhorter School of Pharmacy, Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. This June, myself along with nine other friends and colleagues, partnering with ten nursing students and faculty, will have the opportunity to journey on a medical mission trip to Peru, providing all aspects of healthcare, both physical and spiritual. Located in northern Peru along the Amazon river basin, Yurimaguas is a thriving port city of 64,000 residents. Situated between the Huallaga and Paranapura rivers, it is also one of the last urban centers accessible by paved roads when driving north.

This is my first medical mission trip out of the county! I cannot believe I have been blessed with this opportunity to give back to others who need it most. In Acts 20:35, the Lord Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." I cannot wait to put my knowledge and skills to good use while I am down there, contributing to whole person care! Excited would be an understatement to be given the ability to practice what I will be doing for the rest of my life. I feel so blessed to be called, not only to this profession, but to serve others!

During the times I am not in the clinic, I will be sharing the Gospel to these people during home-to-home visits across this area. I will also be helping them establish new churches and inviting people into a relationship with Jesus! God is going to lead us to do amazing things! I live by a saying that has tucked on my heart throughout my collegiate years from my sorority, "Exceed the Expectation." I am ready to do just that during this trip, contributing in any way I can.

This is going to be an eye opening experience and one that I am fully ready to take on. From being so privileged and blessed in life, I cannot wait to not only change peoples lives, but have mine changed as well. Incredible things are going to happen.The cost of the trip is $2800 and given only four months to raise it can present a challenge.
