Last Christmas, because of donors like you, CDFI was able to purchase and deliver small cooking stoves to each family we serve in Kenya. The stoves have allowed parents and caregivers to quickly and efficiently prepare meals for their children, without needing to build a fire and purchase expensive firewood. These stoves have been life changing!

This year, with your help, we can provide each family with a quality, stainless steel thermos for use in their homes! Many of the children in our program, because of their disability, have to be served a kind of porridge, which is often enriched with an extra nutritional formula. By providing a thermos, parents and caregivers can prepare porridge once, in the morning, and then save it for use throughout the day. This saves families time and money, as they don’t have to use expensive gas to reheat the porridge.

For the past several years, because of donors like you, CDFI has been able to provide special Christmas gifts to families caring for children with disabilities in Kenya. Will you help us this year to provide a large and high quality thermos to every child in our program?

Past Christmas gifts have been nothing short of life changing for the families we serve. These have included solar lights, new mattresses for the children we serve, and last year families were provided with cooking stoves!

I’m so excited to share with you this year’s special Christmas gift for families we serve - but we can’t do it without you!

With your help today, we can supply a high quality, stainless steel thermos to every family in our Kenya program. We need to raise $11,250 in order to supply one thermos to each family.

Last year’s impact, and why thermoses now?

Last year for Christmas, parents and caregivers for children with special needs in Kisumu, Kenya benefited from YOUR generosity and each received a safe and clean LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) cooking stove as well as two cooking pans.

These stoves and pans were life changing - Families no longer need to gather (or purchase) firewood just to cook a basic meal for their children. They can quickly and efficiently cook a meal for their children in their own homes.

So, why a thermos this year? Many of the children in our program, because of their disability, have to be served a kind of porridge, which is often enriched with an extra nutritional formula. By providing a thermos, parents and caregivers will be able to prepare porridge once, in the morning, and then save it for use throughout the day. This saves families time and money, as they don’t have to use extra gas to reheat the porridge. Reheating the porridge also damages the nutritional elements of the formula.
