LLU School of Nursing Botswana SUMMER 2018
Each summer, students from LLU's School of Nursing travel to Botswana as part of their Public Health Nursing (PHN) course. The PHN course focuses on the optimal wellness of the client community in partnership with local nursing staff serving the community often in Primary Health Centers.
Nursing students who have participated in this international experience have found it life-changing, eye-opening, and an inspiration for themselves and people with whom they have shaped their experience. You can be a part of this life-changing experience for students by making a donation today!
Hi my name is Clarissa Spitz and I am a second year student at Loma Linda University. Ever since I was accepted to Loma Linda University, I dreamed of being able to participate in this missionary trip. It seemed so amazing to be able to immerse myself in a South African community. Finally, in my 6th quarter of school, I was able to apply for this opportunity and was accepted! It was all in God's hand and he answered my prayers.
My team and I will be able to assess the needs of the community and assess the available resources in the surrounding the community. Then we will plan a nursing intervention that will reduce the risk factor among the aggregates. I feel very passionate in promoting optimal health for this community because I have always felt a calling to help people in need. This opportunity will also positively benefit my future as a professional nurse, as I will provide and learn health care in a different country.
I have a one time goal of $1,000 and this will cover airfare, food/shelter, and everything I will need during my time there. I am beyond excited for this trip, and appreciate any donation. It can be $1, $5, $10, anything counts and would really help. But even if you can't donate, your prayers and support are just as valuable and important to me, so thank you very much!
