Oh, hi there! It's Lauren. You're probably here because I am rounding up partners for my latest mission trip this spring, and I wanted to fill you in on what's happening. I am very excited to be returning to the region of Huancayo, Peru for the second time for evangelism and church planting. Huancayo is an agrarian town, and there are many remote farming villages in the outskirts.
Many people in this region of the Andes Mountains are hungry to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and what it means for them personally. Because the communities we are visiting don't have a local fellowship, it
is difficult for them to be discipled and learn about the Word of
God. Last year, I met people who did not own a TV, computer, smartphone, book or car, which also limits their ability to hear the gospel without face-to-face contact. Idolatry is also a problem in some areas.
We will be presenting the good news of Jesus Christ in a biblical way using the Evangecube or the bridge method. Both of these presentations end with a decision point and opportunity to put their full trust in Jesus Christ. Also, the people we meet will also be invited to join new house churches or community churches that they can walk to (this is key, because a lot of them don't have cars). We will also be bringing eyeglasses and medical supplies again.
In May 2014, I had the wonderful opportunity to pray with some of the priceless souls in Huancayo to receive Jesus as the Lord of their life and their personal Savior for the first time. Think about the new people we will meet this May that also need to be invited to make the most important decision of their lives - the only one that really counts. I trust that, like last year, many will be drawn to the perfect wisdom, sacrifice and love offered only by Christ through biblical Christianity.
You can be an integral part of my role in this mission by "sending" me to Peru in one of two ways. First, we need to be covered in prayer before, during and after the trip. Please pray for the people we will encounter, for the churches we are planting, and for our team's training, health, safety and teamwork. There is also an opportunity to make a tax-deductible contribution to help with my travel and ministry expenses. Please pray about what you might be able to do, and please let me know if you would like to be added to my prayer email list so you can receive some highlights and updates. I would be honored to have you on my team.
