Dear Family and Friends –

On June 21st, a team of amazing women and I are heading to Northern Haiti to a little place I’ve grown to love through pictures and the internet called, MamaBaby Haiti. MBH is a birth center that provides free prenatal, birth and postnatal care for moms and their babies. Haiti has the highest infant and maternal mortality rate in the Western Hemisphere, a fact that can easily be remedied by the access to safe and thorough maternity care.

As I prayerfully considered this trip during the application process, two verses were laid on my heart. Proverbs 31: 8-9 says; "Speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves: ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice." I knew I needed to go and be a voice for those who don’t have one.

During my time in Haiti, I’ll be serving the Midwives in any way they need. Cleaning, painting, giving manicures and pedicures, hugging littles (I can’t even!) traveling with supplies by foot to neighboring villages and loving on people…honestly, I can’t wait.   Without question, I am certain I will come back with a completely altered perspective on life.

With all pride I have within me set aside, I’d like to ask you to consider partnering with me financially to send me on this trip. I have two specific reasons for this ask:

1.      My deepest desire is to bring awareness to MamaBaby Haiti and the NEEDED work that they are doing. FREE care for Moms who literally walk miles or hop on a scooter  for the chance to have a successful birth and mortality for their little ones pulls deeply at my heart.  I am passionate about this and hope you’ll take a moment to see why my heart is so stirred for this place.  https://youtu.be/0CF6R344Jt8 

2.     It would be simple to write a check and avoid the awkwardness of fundraising.  Full stop.  Because of this, I KNOW that to step outside of my comfortable space in my cozy country, and believe in faith that together, we can raise $2350 required for me to take this trip, would be amazing. I'll gladly be the hands and feet on the ground on your behalf.  

Lastly, would you please pray for a few specifics? For the team and our families we’re leaving behind, our health and for traveling safety and ease.   Most importantly, please pray for the lives of those we come in contact with and serve at MBH and the neighboring villages. Folks, the words “thank you” don’t seem sufficient but I trust you know that I’m humbled and honored that you’ll consider joining me on this big adventure.
