Family & Friends,
The short-term mission team heading to Nepal in about 5 weeks, June 3-14, from e3Partners Mission Agency met today and prayers were lifted for the family members and loved ones of the thousands that lost their lives in the recent Nepal magnitude 7.8 earthquake. The physical devastation is widespread and the emotional heartache is just as devastating. The overriding sense of the team was that possibly this team has been raised in advance for such a time as this to aid in whatever way we can serve.
Thousands have lost their lives. Unicef said Sunday that 940,000 children in areas affected by the earthquake are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. Our hearts broke for the lost and our hearts continue to ache for these children.
Direct reports from our Nepal national leader state that due to the many aftershocks people are afraid to be indoors due to the weak building structures all around their homes. Our national pastor from a distant region that will help lead our team in Nepal to unreached people groups has asked the team to provide spiritual care and to provide practical humanitarian needs.
The mission of the June 3-14 Nepal Team will adjust our focus to include grief counseling, trauma counseling, community health education, providing basic needs, reporting back practical ways to assist the Nepali people, as well as sharing of the good news, outreaches and care for children, and training future church leaders.
My prayer is that we can provide real practical care especially for the children in the region and give them a hope for the future.
The resources raised for this short-term mission also provide a year of follow-up care by national Nepali Christian leaders (the Nepali exchange rate: 1 US dollar = 101 Nepalese Rupee). We have found the very best mission outreach is to equip, train, and help resource national Christian leaders that already know the language, the culture and are highly respected in their community. National Nepali Christian leaders can best follow up new believers in Christ, assist in the forming of new vibrant healthy house churches, and provide ongoing spiritual care.
The people of Nepal surrounding the quake are devastated and you can only imagine what is going on in the hearts and minds of the children of the region. In my own wisdom & experience I am not worthy of this calling yet God has revealed it will be Christ through me as I serve as a yielded vessel.
Thank you in advance for praying and providing financial resources for this team to share the love of God with the children & families of Nepal.
With Great Appreciation!!
Fact: 1/3 of the earth's six billion people are under that age of 15, this is the world's largest unreached people group.
"God please raise up Christian leaders to reach the world's two billion children for Jesus."
