Back to Israel!
Hello friends! I'm glad that you have found your way to this page. As you might know, last summer I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Israel. The time leading up to this trip as well as the time in-country opened my eyes and my heart to this part of the world. During our stay, we traveled to several cities learning about the biblical events that took place. It was surreal to read about a place in my Bible, look up, and realize I was there. I wrote down the dates we visited each place in my Bible; so now I can flip open my Bible to the story of Jesus' birth and remember that I went to Bethlehem on July 10, 2014...so cool!!
This June, I'm going back! I could not be more excited about this trip. This year, our team will be spending the first three days hiking the Jesus Trail. We will be walking 10-15 miles a day in Jesus' footsteps. After that, we have the opportunity to love on a Bedouin community (more info on them below).
I would love it with you would consider partnering with me on this journey; there are two huge ways you can do this. 1. Pray! Cover our team in prayer before, during, and after the trip. Pray for the people we will meet along the way, that their hearts would be open to Jesus. Pray that our team would be sensitive to the Spirit's leading and that we would be obedient. 2. Prayerfully consider partnering with me financially; every little bit helps! Getting across the globe is not exactly cheap...I am using part of my savings for the trip but would be so grateful if you feel led to help! Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any trouble donating; the system can be a little tricky!
The Desert Dwellers
The name Bedouin comes from the Arab word “Bedou,” translated “desert dweller.” Nothing could better describe the lives of these people who live throughout the Middle East. Over 2 million Bedouins reside in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Israel, quietly tending to livestock in their remote villages. They adhere to a strict social hierarchy that involves close attention to their code of honor. As the western world slowly encroaches on their lives, some Bedouins have abandoned their traditional lifestyle and moved into nearby cities.
A large contingency of Bedouins currently live in the regions of Negev and Galilee in Israel, often in unrecognized villages. This makes them ineligible for municipal resources and certain citizenship rights. An estimated 110,000 Bedouins have settled into 50 of these villages, comprising 2% of the Israeli state population.
What We’re Doing
While Christian resources are available in their Arabic tongue, less the .3% of the people profess Christ, making them largely unengaged. This expedition is your chance to venture into the uncharted Bedouin villages of Israel, where you will come face-to-face with this amazing community. We will build new relationships, demonstrate the love of Christ, and serve these incredible people.
