Our goal on this trip is not to bring our teaching style of the US to Haiti. Instead we want to collaborate as teachers and try to bring ideas together in a space where they can empower the teachers and leaders in Haiti in ways they see fit.  It's like a feeble attempt on our part to provide the teachers of Haiti with some of the training teachers in the US receive at conferences and other places.  In those places, we learn all kinds of different strategies and tools, and then decide which ones work well for our context.  We hope to share some of the ideas we've gathered along the way in our teaching experience and also create a space where the Haitian teachers process which of those things would be beneficial to them. 

Help One Now is an organization which focuses on empowering the leaders from the communities they serve. 

Help One Now's ethos:  To remain invisible in our communities and focus our efforts on resourcing key leaders instead. 

Help One Now leads a limited number of Learning Journeys for committed, long-term supporters (Church Partners, Child Sponsors, Foundation members, and Love Hope Partners) each year. On these Journeys, emphasis will be placed on connecting with a community, building deep relationships with the local leaders, and brainstorming how to unlock human capital to partner together and support their work back home.
