Ferrier Village is a trafficking prevention initiative that is currently home to 45 children. The children of Ferrier Village are all double orphaned—without a mother, without a father, and without any appropriate oversight or supervision. Kids in this situation are extremely vulnerable to human trafficking. These kids have been rescued from lives of slavery and abandonment – living alone on the streets at 4 years old without a name; living in a home as a domestic servant at 5; enduring neglect and hunger. Help One Now has partnered with local leader Jean Alix Paul since 2013 to see that these children are rescued into lives of hope.
Along with the Village that provides shelter and love, Help One Now and Jean Alix Paul have worked together to open a preschool and primary school to provide education for the children living at Ferrier Village. The school is also open to children from the surrounding community. It has quickly gained the reputation as one of the best schools in the entire region!
It is our goal at Help One Now to partner with children to see them through their entire education, so that they are able to become self-sufficient and leave the cycle of poverty behind them. At Ferrier Village, our next step toward this goal is to build a Secondary School, so that these kids can continue their quality education and spiritual development from preschool all the way through 12th grade!
For the first phase of this project, we will prepare the land, lay the foundation, and construct classrooms for Secondary Level 1. We will also build a community garden and greenhouse that will serve 20-30 families. The amount needed to complete Phase 1 is $182,500.
In the following phases of this project, we will add classrooms to accommodate Secondary Levels 2 and 3. The total cost of all three phases will be $350,000. This expansion will impact over 750 people every year!
As always, we will use local laborers and materials in the construction of this project, so we maintain a far-reaching impact of creating jobs and allowing workers to provide for their families while fueling economic growth.
We invite you to join in the impact of transforming lives by enabling children to complete their education, become self-sustaining, and live out their potential to have a continuing impact on the community around them! We thank you for your hope; together we build!
