Hi family and friends!!
I have recently been given the opportunity to travel to
Jinja, Uganda in Africa with 99 Balloons’ Global Partners. 99 Balloons exists
to help others engage children with special needs both locally and globally. In addition to experiencing
the story of disability in Uganda, I will be working alongside the nurses on
the team as they provide training, direct care, and assistance for kids
with disabilities. My team and I will also organize a weeklong day camp for
kids with disabilities and assist local staff with various needs. We will
be working with a ministry that provides care for over 20 orphans living with a
disability, as well as a community care program that provides resources and
services for over 50 families experiencing disabilities.
The reason I was drawn to this ministry and this trip is all
because of Jesus. Jesus gave me a passion in high school to care for people at
their lowest of lows, their times of vulnerability and weakness, their times of
pain. He also gave me a passion for Africa and it’s beautiful people. I am so
blessed to say that I will be starting an incredible nursing program at the
University of Arkansas this August and I can’t wait to let the Lord use my
education to further His Kingdom. I’m also looking forward to using my
experiences from working at Camp War Eagle last summer to love on those kids in
a fun and exciting way. It has been a dream of mine to travel to Africa,
specifically Uganda (funny how the Lord works), to show people His sweet love
and mercy through helping them with my nursing background. And I’m so overjoyed
to say that this is my first opportunity to do just that.
So friends, I’m sending you this message to ask for your help
in complete humility and faith. The total cost for this trip is $2,835. That
number can be intimidating, but I am putting no limit on my God. Whether it’s
financial help, or a commitment to pray for me and my journey, I just ask for
your help.
