Thanks for taking the time to read about our adoption journey. My husband and I have always loved the idea of adoption to grow our family, but we thought it would come later in life. However, God had other plans.
In 2013, I was recovering from a lower back fusion and felt so blessed to finally be free of pain after 12 years of suffering. I started asking God how I could pay it forward and began researching different places to volunteer. My searches always ended up at adoption websites and one night God spoke to my heart in a way that I had never experienced before. He said that these kids need love now and that we needed to trust Him. That was it. We jumped in with both feet.
It has taken some time for us to figure out where God wants us to be in this process, but we finally believe that we are where He wants us. We are prayerfully planning to adopt two children (sibling group) from Burundi which is located in central Africa. Burundi is one of the poorest countries in the world with an estimated 500,000 orphans. Our hearts ache for these kids! No child should be without a loving forever family!
Now you know why we are adopting, here is what needs to happen before we can bring our kids home. We have raised enough funds so far to pay for our background checks, training and our home study, but we still have a long way to go. To adopt one child from Burundi costs roughly $33,000, but we don't know how much the country will charge us for the second one. Once we have that information, we will pass it along to all of you. Our hope is to have all the funds raised and be ready to travel within the next 12 to 18 months as it is expected to take that long to complete all of the paperwork and be matched with our kiddos.
We cannot begin to tell you how much our hearts ache to hold our kids and shower love on them. Any donation that you make (big or small) gets us one step closer to our children. Thank you all for your support and prayers!
