Healing Through Play
Help us Create a Play Therapy Space for Children Healing from TraumaArkansas has the highest trauma rate in the nation. More than two thirds of children report at least one traumatic event by age 16, and 63 percent of youth with major depression do not receive any mental health treatment.
Early diagnosis and appropriate services for children and their families can make a difference in the lives of children with mental illness. That is why this year during NWA Gives, the BURRELL FOUNDATION is raising funds for a Play Therapy Room in their soon-to-be renovated Rogers Clinic.
Play therapy can help children communicate, explore repressed thoughts and emotions, address unresolved trauma, and experience personal growth. It is widely viewed as a crucial, effective, and developmentally appropriate mental health treatment.
This play therapy space will require a variety of toys, tools and resources to help these children cope and process their experiences. Examples include: sand trays, dollhouse furniture, doll beds and clothes, nursing bottles, pacifiers, crayons, pencils, toy soldiers, sandboxes, playdough, play money, medical kits and more.
With your donation, you can play a direct role in helping kids in Northwest Arkansas heal, grow and thrive.
