North India 2015:: Changing the story of disability with 99 Balloons

I am so excited to join 99 Balloons as we serve organizations serving people and families experiencing disability in North India this summer. We will primarily be working with a program that serves almost 200 villages in the rural foothills of the Himalayas. They employ village workers to become disability generalist-training them in basic awareness, therapy, and legal skills to advocate on the behalf of people with disabilities in the region. There work includes a special needs school, early intervention centers, and a employment program for individuals with disabilities and for parents of children with disabilities. 

Our team is made  mostly of professionals who work daily alongside people with disabilities. Therapist, social workers, special educators, and more. Our team will be training and encouraging the village workers as they continue to expand their reach into the mountains.
