Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe. - Frederick Douglass
Poverty is not just a lack of food and money. Physical Poverty. Emotional Poverty. Spiritual Poverty. One, if not all, exist in every corner of our globe.
Living in a world where poverty and economy has become such a political hot topic, I am forced to look at my own actions to see if I really believe what I say I believe. Worldwide poverty is an epidemic. There are children living on the streets in both third world countries as well as some of the wealthiest cities on the planet. I have had several opportunities lately to experience people and places different than my own. While traveling this year around the US as well as places around the globe I have been incredibly blessed and encouraged by the realization that so often the people with the least seem to find hope and see light where others may only see darkness.
Maybe it is something like the moments it takes for my eye to adjust to darkness when someone turns out the light. All I know is that the smile on the face of a child who is eating a meal that was never promised, or the pride in the eyes of a girl who can finally recite her multiplication tables are so incredibly beautiful and even dim in comparison to the countenance of a parent who lovingly sees the meal shared or the chance of an education for their son or daughter that they themselves have never had.
I have never regretted investing in the life of another person. I have never wish I could have a single cent back of anything I have ever put into the betterment of a child's future. I would give my last penny to see these kids get a shot at half of the opportunities that I have received, and more than that to let them know that they are loved.
I would love to have you as a partner in this fight against poverty. This war is not cheap. Each and every battle takes people and efforts and time. Not everyone has the calling to leave their homes and jobs to take care of kids in need, but if you are willing and able to help me with some of the expenses of the trips and training and even equipment needed, I would be so incredibly grateful!
I want to spread the message that was perfectly put in Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
