Ferrier Village is Help One Now's anti-trafficking initiative in the
community of Ferrier, located in the northeastern corner of Haiti near
the Dominican border. It includes homes for rescued children, a school,
and a clinic--all monitored by the community director and the amazing
house mothers that care for the children.
The Community Garden
and Greenhouses will accomplish 2 things:
1. It will be a source
of increased nutrition by helping to bring a sustainable food source
for the children of Ferrier Village, and the hundreds of students at the pre-school and primary school.
2. It will increase agricultural and economic opportunity for
other families in the Ferrier community. Families will be given plots in the greenhouses and trained on proper farming techniques. They will then be able to grow enough food for themselves, as well as enough surplus to sell in the markets and create sustainable income.
Every
Ferrier Village fundraiser supports the overall goal of Ferrier Village
itself--to engage in trafficking prevention through both rescue and
community development.
