Help One Now is doing orphan prevention and family
empowerment projects in partnership with Take Action Ministries in
Pretoria, South Africa and the surrounding area. The work focuses on
education, health care, economic opportunity, and spiritual development
in order to transform communities and keep vulnerable children WITH
their families.
The Maubane Community is a very impoverished rural community,
40km north of Pretoria. Pastor Norman Lamola and his team serve about
400 children and their families each week. Because of the good work they are doing in
uplifting the community, a piece of land was allocated to them to establish a
Community Centre. This Centre now has a community water point with wash
troughs and faucets, a community food garden, a play area and an open-air shelter. They
are also now feeding 120 orphaned and/or vulnerable children there every
afternoon after school. The next phase at the Maubane Community Centre is to build a multi-purpose building with a
Kitchen, Early Childhood Development Centre, Store Room, Caretaker Facilities, and more!
THIS Project
As the Maubane community continues to grow, they will need benches,
tables, school and education supplies and office equipment. However,
before we help them with those items, they must have a safe place to
store everything. The community also needs a general office to provide a
place to make sure the details of running such an important and busy
ministry are being accomplished.
This fundraiser will provide
the means to construct and furnish a two-room building that will meet
both of these needs. There will be a safe, secure place to store their
supplies and equipment, and there will also be a secure, organized room
to give them the space to file the reports, do the paperwork, and
accomplish all of the other important, behind-the-scenes work that
keeping such a valuable community resource operational.
