I can’t believe it! I’m going to Haiti this summer on a medical mission trip! What a dream come true!

In 1992, God made it abundantly clear to me what I wanted to be when I grew up…a physical therapist. Let me tell you, after trying on many different majors this was a great relief! Nearly 20 years later I am still working in this great profession. Now I get to share this gift with the people of Haiti.

In July, I will join a team sponsored by the non-profit 99 Balloons. We will be visiting a school called Respire that rescues Restaveks, our child domestic slaves. As a team we will train staff at the school on how to implement a special education program. This school also hosts a therapy clinic that serves around 70 children each week. I will work directly with a Haitian-trained physical therapist and assistant on treatment planning and education. As I have worked in public schools and outpatient clinics throughout my career this is the perfect fit for me! It is amazing how God uses us and our gifts once we simply make ourselves available. After being inspired by a fellow physical therapist and friend, I started to pursue an international trip in January. In February, I learned of this trip and in late March I was accepted as a team member!
