Hi everyone! I am so excited to officially announce that I will be partnering with Hope Speaks this summer! Hope Speaks is a wonderful ministry to help children with disabilities in Kampala, Uganda where 1 in 7 children are living with a disability. Their ministry is providing Speech Therapy to hundreds of these children. Hope Speaks is an organization that helps teach children how to swallow/chew, understand and express language, articulate words, and so much more! Many of the volunteers are Speech Language Pathology grad and undergrad students, as well as Speech Therapy professionals.
Why Hope Speaks?
I’ve always had a love for serving others. Hope Speaks allows me to serve while gaining experience. It would be an amazing opportunity to connect and acquire knowledge from all types of professionals and people from different backgrounds. I chose Hope Speaks because it allows me this opportunity and allows growth to make me the best speech pathologist I can be. Hope speaks is an amazing organization that is changing the world!
What will you be doing?I will be participating in therapy sessions, helping with projects, food for families, children's day camps, and going and serving in the slums. There is lots more that I will be doing while in Uganda. I can't wait to share all my experiences with you and all I have learned!
How long will you be gone?I will be leaving the first week in June and return around July 6th. I will be gone for about 1 month.
What will you need to go?First my biggest goal of course is prayer! There is no way I will be able to go without the support and prayers of my family and friends! Second, is to raise enough money to cover the cost of travel, housing, passport, visa, etc.. Every donation is important and helps me reach my goal! If you would like to make a donation press the button below!
If you have any questions feel free to message me or leave a comment!
Thank you so much for being a part of my life and helping me accomplish something that s important to all of us. Because of you, we are making the world a better place!
-Much love, Alandra Patterson
