Nutrition has always been more than a career to me—it’s a way to share the love of Jesus with people in a real, practical way. I’m raising funds for my upcoming mission trip to Uganda as a Registered Dietitian, where I’ll have the incredible opportunity to serve alongside local communities by teaching sustainable nutrition solutions, supporting families facing food insecurity, and spreading hope through nutrition practice. I feel incredibly called to use my talents to serve others, not just here at home, but where the need is great—helping children and families thrive physically and spiritually in a place where access to quality nutrition and education is limited.
Some of the work I will assist with includes continuing the development of a nutrition supplement made entirely from native, locally sourced Ugandan ingredients. This versatile supplement can be prepared to different consistencies depending on the amount of water added—ranging from a thicker, cooked cereal like oatmeal to a thinner porridge—and can even be used for tube feedings when blended well. Local farming and production of these ingredients will provide a sustainable solution for Ugandans, made by Ugandans.
As a nutrition student who has visited and worked with Hope Speaks in Uganda multiple times, I have seen the overwhelming need for an affordable, high-protein, high-calorie supplement that addresses malnutrition while ensuring access for those most in need and supporting a sustainable model for growth across Africa.
In addition, we will be conducting a nutritional scientific study on this supplement with children who have disabilities and are at very high risk for malnutrition or are currently malnourished.
Your support means the world to me and will help make this ministry possible. ❤️
Hope Speaks is a nonprofit based in Kampala, Uganda, with a mission to inspire hope and amplify the voices of people with disabilities. In Uganda, 1 in 7 children lives with a disability, yet access to rehabilitative therapy is extremely limited. Hope Speaks exists to help close that gap by providing speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy to children and families who would otherwise go without.
Through therapy, children learn to communicate their wants, needs, and ideas, build social skills, and swallow safely. Just as importantly, Hope Speaks works alongside families and communities to provide education, advocacy, and access to resources so that people of all abilities can reach their fullest potential.
A core part of Hope Speaks’ work is partnering with volunteers to build the capacity of Ugandan therapists through training, mentorship, and collaboration. In addition to therapy services, Hope Speaks also hosts and supports programs focused on nutrition, pastoral care, respite for families, children’s day camps, and other community-based initiatives.
Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference. Your support helps make it possible for me to be present, serve alongside local professionals, and walk with children with disabilities as they find their voices and grow in confidence.
If you feel led, I would be so grateful for your financial support. I would also deeply appreciate you sharing this page with others who may want to partner in this work.
Thank you for being part of my life and for supporting something that truly matters to me and to so many families here. God bless you!
