As you all may know, I am currently pursuing a career in the field of speech-language pathology. For those of you who may not know what a speech-language pathologist (SLP) does, I will try my best to give a brief description. Most importantly, SLPs help people of all ages communicate. SLPs can treat and diagnose disorders in the area of speech, language, cognitive communication, social communication, and swallowing. This includes the ability to comprehend and use language, difficulties with attention, memory, problem solving, feeding, voice production, communication skills affected by deafness, the inability to communicate verbally, and so much more. SLPs work with individual's who have a wide range of disabilities. With this being said, I have been presented with an opportunity through an organization called Hope Speaks to provide these services to children in Uganda who are not as fortunate to receive the services they need. Every part of me would love to be an advocate for these children and use my skills and knowledge to change their lives. Just imagine what your life would be like if you could not communicate.
Thank you so much for being a part of my life and helping me accomplish something that's important to all of us! God bless you!
