Hello! Thank you for taking the time to view this page. Michael and I are so excited to share this opportunity with you. 

In 2019, I was praying through Psalm 145 and became convinced that God delights in receiving verbal praise from His children. Expressive action is all over this psalm: extol, bless, praise, commend, declare, sing aloud, give thanks, speak, and tell. "My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD" (v.21). This is when Speech Pathology became more than a degree I was seeking, but a way I could serve the Lord. Perhaps I could help others find their voice, so that one day they too could worship God with words.

"Hope Speaks is a nonprofit based in Kampala, Uganda. Their mission is to inspire hope and raise voices of people with disabilities through speech therapy, advocacy, education, and social services. In Uganda, 1 in 7 children are living with a disability. Hope Speaks' main focus is on making speech, language, and feeding therapy accessible for hundreds of children. In therapy, they help children learn to communicate their wants, needs, and ideas, build social skills, and swallow safely, as well as empower and educate families and communities about disabilities and available resources to help people of all abilities reach their fullest potential.
 
Hope Speaks has gone beyond that and also includes hosting other groups who help with projects, food for families, respite care, children's day camps, and serving in the slums."

Hope Speaks and I planned for me to join their team during my last semester of graduate school. However, the pandemic of 2020 closed that door. Now, 2 years later, I get to pursue this opportunity again. But not alone! My amazing husband, Michael, who prayed back then for me to go gets to embark on this journey with me now!!
