May 2024 Update: David and Hilary are both planning to join this trip.
In June 2024, we plan to return to eastern Africa to serve refugees in northern Uganda. Over one million South Sudanese have fled their country as war between major tribes moves toward genocide. The refugees (86% women and children, 64% under the age of 18) have experienced and witnessed terrible human atrocities. The people of South Sudan “sit on their hands wondering where is peace? Where is reconciliation?”
We know the God of both. We must go and share Jesus’ Gospel of Love and Peace. Romans 15:13 says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” (ESV). We want to share this hope with others.
Here is a taste of what happened when we went in June 2023:
This trip, we will move to other camps within Adjumani district, asking the pastors and churches from Olua to join us as we go to Mugula and Boroli. In Arua, we will partner with churches from Ofua 4 and move deeper into Ofua, Yelulu, and Ariraze. As we partner with our Ugandan and South Sudanese leaders and fellow believers, we aim to plant a church within walking distance of every refugee in Northern Uganda.
