Live on the mission of Jesus!
It is amazing to see what God can do when you allow yourself to be challenged and submit to Him. I am honored to obey His call to serve these beautiful souls in Zimbabwe.

The trip allows our team to spend 14 days loving on these children, teaching skills training and bringing healing to an aching community/culture.

One of the most impactful experiences from my previous trip was while spreading love thru words of affirmation, encouragement and purpose! Seeing the emotions of the young women when they were told by not only our team, but their "sisters" that they are beautiful, talented, strong, etc. Most of these young women have never heard these words before and the raw emotion was beautiful.

Zimbabwe has the highest per capita of orphans in the world, with estimates between 1.5 - 2 million orphans of a 14 million total population. Zimbabwe also lead the world in unemployment. Opportunities for children are difficult to come by, particularly those who have grown up without a family to support them. Hands of Hope and the HOH Community have become that family. Hands of Hope is a non-profit, on mission for Jesus and the people/children of Zimbabwe, that has been able to provide homes, feeding projects and send out teams. A home with Hands of Hope consists of 10-12 orphans who are raised by aunties and mommas (oftentimes widows) from a local church in conjunction with the pastor. The children receive 3 meals a day, schooling, shelter, and are raised together as a family.

"Sekerera" in Shona this means "smile" and these kids have left an everlasting smile in my heart.

How you can support:
First and foremost - prayer! Please pray for those in Zimbabwe (the kids and everyone in our HOH community). Pray for our team as we prepare, but also as we continue to build/bring awareness to those around us with ways to support. Lastly, pray for myself as I go about preparing and fundraising.

Secondly - funds! I am responsible to fundraise to cover my expenses that cover food, vaccinations, as well as travel expenses. The total for those expenses is $3800. This may seem like an overwhelming amount to raise but I wholeheartedly know that God will provide. Any additional funds raised, exceeding my expenses, will go towards the kids and community.

We are called not only to be disciples, but to fill the world with disciples and serve one another humbly with love.
