Hello!

     I'm excited to share with you that I'll be on an E3 Partners team going to Ukunda, Kenya, from Jul 25 to Aug 3, 2019. Our team will be meeting and engaging the Digo, an East African tribe concentrated on the southern coastal strip of Kenya between Mombasa and the border of Tanzania. They live in segregated villages largely separated from the rest of Kenyan society (How sad). The Digo are nearly all Muslim. Currently, only one out of a thousand Digo are Christian (Even more sad). It's my hope that we will convey the love of God and share the good news of Jesus. Serving as an E3 Partner is serving alongside the Kenyan brothers and sisters to share Christ and to build up the local church. With ongoing prayer, training and good partnerships, the Digo can be reached through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

How will They Know Unless They Hear?
     In Romans 10, the Apostle Paul writes that people can't call upon God if they don't believe in him. And they can't believe in God if they've not heard about him. And they'll only hear of God when someone speaks for him.
     As a follower of Jesus, I'm to speak of him and proclaim his salvation. Jesus is my light and life, and the good news I want to share with the Digo. I'm hoping that people will have a transformed life when they come to faith in Jesus.

     This trip has many components that involve being uncomfortable and perhaps unpleasant: long travel days, monsoon season (hot, humid, rain), unfamiliar surroundings, the possibility of getting sick, unfamiliar language and customs, and directly engaging people of the Muslim faith. Long ago, I surrendered to God, asking for his will to be done in and through my life. Even here, within the discomfort, I need to trust in God's sovereignty, grace and faithfulness so his will is accomplished; and perhaps in the process, I will be shaped and sanctified toward the person of Jesus. (Are you too comfortable?)
