My Testimony and a Bit About Me
Before I was born, my father and mother already had huge hearts for missions. They both received degrees so that they could live overseas and preach the gospel to the unreached. God ignited that spirit in them and that same flame was ignited in me. I was born when my father was attending seminary and grew up in the church my whole life. Somewhere along the way I gave my life to the Lord. It wasn't some 180 degree life change or anything, but it was a special day in my life. That day I felt the holy spirit fill me with warmth and hope. Since then I have had ups and downs in my spiritual walk, but in the end God always brings me back to him. He has been the rock and constant comforter of my life. I have already been on numerous mission trips to places such as Vietnam, Belize, Haiti and have traveled to Japan, Puerto Rico, and England. Each time I leave, I come back amazed at how God works.
When I heard of this mission I was intrigued, yet I wasn't thinking too seriously of going to Nepal. Why Nepal of all places? Later I felt God pushing me to look into the trip so I did. I prayed and prayed that he would lead me to know if this was his will or not. Each time the topic came up in my day to day life I felt an overwhelming pressure come over me. I didn't decide until God spoke through one of my close friends and said,
"Don't stay until I say go; Go until I say stay". I knew then that this was
His will. After deciding, numerous stressors pushed through the door. How will I prepare? What if something bad happens? How do I share His love and grace? How am I going to fund this trip? I quickly realized that I wouldn't have been called to go if He would not provide.
So I am going faithfully until he says, "stay".A People in Isolation
One word describes Nepal - extreme. While barely larger than the state of Arkansas, the country is home to the impressive Himalayas. Daunting mountain peaks and steep cliffs tower over the land.
This trip is reaching one of the 10 groups that was funded by Passion 2015. This trip is not an official Passion 2015 or Passion Conference led trip.
Nepal boasts a distinct and proud heritage as one of the few countries in Asia not to be ruled by a colonial power. It remained socially and politically isolated until 1951. Its monarchy, dating back to ancient times, didn’t end until 2008.
At one point, Nepal was the world’s only Hindu Kingdom. Today, it is a secular democracy but Hinduism still maintains a strong hold on the land. Of the 352 people groups who reside within Nepal’s borders, 343 of them are considered unreached. That amounts to over 28 million people who have never heard the Gospel!
What We’re Doing
This expedition will specifically target two unreached and unengaged people groups in Southern Nepal. This is your chance to share the Gospel with some of the 99% of Nepal’s population who have never heard the name of Jesus. As people receive Christ, we will establish new house churches in the region. Local pastors and leaders will continue cultivating relationships in the area and disciple these new followers of Jesus.
In just one week, you can venture into an untamed part of the world, share the Gospel, and fuel a Gospel movement that outlives your time on this Earth.
Let the adventure begin.
