My name is Julian Pilgrim-Penick and I am currently a freshman at Keene High School in Keene, TX. I am really excited about the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Peru! And I'm even more excited that I received an ADRA Connection Scholarship to be able to help me go.

Since I was young, I have been involved in many different activities. My mom said that for every sport I played, I should also do one activity that involved serving people. I began serving others through church programs, like Adventurers, and then through Pathfinders. My parents were also involved traveling the world serving developing communities in need. But I did not know truly how important service was to me until last summer.

Last summer I had the opportunity to go on my first mission trip to Puerto Rico. I participated in rebuilding part of a school, handing out 500 backpacks full of school supplies, helping with VBS program, a health clinic, and many other things. I didn't know that I could really make a difference like that. The people were so grateful and happy to have our help. I came to realize that there are many people in the world that need help and I want to be a part of that.

I am about to serve abroad, joining 300 students through ADRA Connections Extreme. Our trip will take us to Cusco, Perú where we will finish building a three-story elementary school in the remote Andes mountain community of Chillihuanu. The trip will take place from July 21 - August 4, 2019.  

I want to invite you on this trip, and this is how I plan to take you there with me! 

First, please pray for me. Pray for the experience that I will have and pray for the people I am going to help. Secondly, I am asking for your financial help. I need to raise $1,100, with all of the donations going directly toward my plane ticket, lodging, food and ground transportation. You may not be able to get on that plane with me and help build that school physically, but you can go there by supporting me with donations. We are each other's legacy!
