Justin and I are being drawn back for our fifth year of outreach in the beautiful — yet spiritually hungry — land of Ireland. And this year is especially meaningful: all five Waltons are going! For the first time, our entire family — Justin, Diane, Parker, Peyton, and Knox — will serve together on mission. We are overwhelmed with gratitude that each of our children has said yes to God’s invitation.
Over the past summers, we have witnessed the Lord do things only He can do — opening doors, softening hearts, forming friendships, and strengthening believers. One of the greatest joys is seeing long-term fruit. The missionary we partnered with in our first years, Andrew, is now working to build the church that was planted through those early efforts. What a testimony to God’s faithfulness!
This year, the Lord is leading us to serve alongside a new Irish missionary, Ross, in the coastal town of Dungarvan in County Waterford. While Andrew continues strengthening the church plant he began, we will help support new outreach and gospel conversations in this next area of need.
Ireland is often known for its breathtaking beauty, warm hospitality, and rich history — but spiritually, the need is immense. Less than 0.5% of Irish people identify as evangelical Christians. Entire towns remain without a gospel-centered church. Beneath the charm is a quiet spiritual loneliness.
And so — we go.
We go because Jesus said: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19)
We go trusting that the Lord goes before us — preparing hearts in Dungarvan and preparing our hearts as well. We go believing that the Gospel still changes lives. We go knowing that obedience matters more than outcome.
