Trip Cost: $5,800The mission of Remember Nhu: "Ending child sex slavery through prevention."
Remember Nhu has 34 homes in nine countries, which help over 700 children from entering into the sex trade: "It is our passion to open more Homes of Refuge around the world in order to keep as many children as possible out of the sex trade." -https://remembernhu.org/
Here is the
reality: (from the Remember Nhu website), “In countries
around the world it has become culturally acceptable to sell your
children when ends don’t meet. Due to the high death rate in the sex
trade (3 years or less), there is an increasing demand for more and more
workers. Sadly, both boys as well as girls are wanted to fill brothels.
It is because of the supply and the demand that horror of the sex trade
continues. One of the reasons why prevention works is because of the
education that happens when we come to the aid of a family. When a
family is desperate enough to sell their children, we step in and offer a
much better solution: we will take care of them for you. The family is
allowed to visit whenever they want, but this rarely happens. It has
become shameful now in these villages to sell your children. What was
culturally acceptable is now unacceptable. That is our approach to
ending sex trafficking; cutting off the source as well as protecting
children before their lives are forever damaged.”
The children in our rescue homes in both Thailand and Myanmar wait each year with eager anticipation for our teams to return. As teams from Hear The Cry have continued to build relationships with these kiddo's and staff the trust and friendship has grown.
During our stay in Chiang Mai we will spend time with the girls helping with homework, playing games, and taking them to various attractions like an elephant camp or go swimming with them. There are plenty of projects on the grounds and the home to help with, along with encouraging the staff and bringing some of our long term missionaries a breath of home. While they are at school, we will have the opportunity to visit one of the hill tribes to gain an understanding of what the children are subject to in this kind of slavery and how poverty in this area presents itself into heartbreaking results. The culture and religious influence in the country cannot be overlooked. This trip will bring insight and depth to how lives are structured here.
It has been on our hearts to serve God in such a way where we can be a blessing, and together as husband and wife, we seek to be a unit of believers and advocates for freedom. With open hearts and minds, we are excited to be a part of this incredible team of individuals whose pursuit is the freedom of human kind. We are asking for your financial support with anything you are able to give; but also for prayer support for the safety and well-being of us and our team. Thank you!
Blessings,
Katrina & Elias
