Hi Everyone!
Africa New Life has decided to climb to the top of Africa once again! Next February I am one of 11 women who will embark on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to trek up to 19,341ft. for children in Rwanda. Why? Because we have a huge heart for “the land of a thousand hills" and want nothing less than to help give back in every way possible. When I visited Rwanda for the first time in 2017, I fell in love with the people and their country. I met our sponsored children, Jude, Diane, and Jantimen, and learned what an impact sponsorship has on them and their families. A few years ago, I told God that I wasn't comfortable being comfortable. He heard me and met me with some big challenges. He broke my heart for vulnerable children in my community and all around the world, specifically in Africa. When the opportunity arose to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise awareness and support for Africa New Life's Food Program, I felt God say GO. It is a bit overwhelming and scary but my God has taken me through overwhelming and scary things before and I have grown even closer to Him in those situations. So when I heard Go, Andy and I prayed, and then I signed up! We have a BIG goal but I believe that we can do it. I think of the children I met in Rwanda and I am determined to do everything I can to help them. That includes raising $15,000 myself!
With a team goal of $170,000 we will be able to provide more than 200,000 meals for kids in Rwanda.
Meet our team of 11 courageous women: Tanna (team leader), Charlotte, Jordan, Brooke, Ashleigh, Leslie, Anne, Michelle, Alisha, Renate and Judy!
Africa New Life's Food Program helps to provide school lunches to children in Rwanda who otherwise would get little or no food to eat. These children work hard and are dedicated to doing well in school so they can improve their families' situations and give back to their country when they grow up. But it’s hard to learn or grow without food!
An average meal in Rwanda costs $0.83, which means $25 provides food for a child for a month (30 meals). Feeding children and families is an extension of the gospel and provides students the stability and consistent nutrition necessary to complete their education.
