Hi Friends and Family!

Last year I had the privilege of being in Rwanda visiting my sponsorship children for the second time. My first trip to Africa was in 2015, and I leave a piece of my heart there every time I go.

During my 2018 visit, I was in conversation with a team of women who were with me and it was brought up to us that there was an upcoming hike up Mount Kilimanjaro to raise new funds for Africa New Life.

I thought to myself, “Could I do that? There is no way... I’ll be 65 years old by then!”

Well, fast forward to today…and guess what? I am training to climb to the highest peak in Africa! I’m doing this!!

As I prepare and train my body, mind, and spirit; I realize this is way beyond me and there are goals that I need to reach for.

Yes, this is going to stretch me, but I am in and more than excited about this new adventure.

Here are the details:

It will happen next February, and I have the honor to be a part of an amazing team of 11 women who will embark on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to trek up to 19,341ft. for children in Rwanda.

Our Kilimanjaro 2020 team will help raise support and awareness for Africa New Life's Food Program! With a team goal of $170,000 they will be able to provide more than 200,000 meals for kids in Rwanda.

Meet our team of 11 courageous women: Tanna (team leader, Charlotte, Jordan, Brooke, Ashleigh, Leslie, Myself, Michelle, Alisha, Renate and Judy!

Africa New Life's Food Program helps to provide school lunches to children in Rwanda who otherwise would get little or no food to eat.

These children work hard and are dedicated to doing well in school so they can improve their families' situations and give back to their country when they grow up. But it’s hard to learn or grow without food!

An average meal in Rwanda costs $0.83, which means $25 provides food for a child for a month (30 meals).

Feeding children and families is an extension of the gospel and provide students the stability and consistent nutrition necessary to complete their education.
