Hi Everyone!
This has been a long time coming and I am SOOOO excited to finally share all of this with you! Africa New Life has decided to climb to the tallest point in Africa once again! Next February, I will be embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime journey up to 19,341ft. for children in Rwanda with a group of 11 women, all who share the same love and passion for these sweet kids in the gorgeous "land of a thousand hills".
Two years ago, I was able to spend some time in Rwanda, meeting families and playing with these kids. My life and my heart will never be the same. Every time I go to Africa, I set out with a mindset that I have something to offer or that there is a way I can help them live a better life. However, without fail, every time I leave, I always have the same realization. I walk away with an entirely different perspective on life. My heart feels completely full and totally aware that no amount of material possessions or conveniences that we are so accustomed to in the US is really what makes life full and rich in love. The people and especially the sweet children of Rwanda are not lacking in joy or in love so in this regard, I have nothing to offer, only something to gain - a better perspective and endless gratefulness that I have been privileged to know them and be in their presence.
As brothers and sisters on this earth, I do feel inclined to encourage everyone to help each other out and meet basic needs so that we, as one ginormous family, can thrive in health, in education, and in love. This is where we can ALL help. This team pictured below of 11 courageous and beautiful women, have set out to raise $170,000 to initiate Africa New Life's Food Program that will provide over 200,000 school lunches for kids in Rwanda who would otherwise get little or no food at all. These kids work hard and are dedicated to doing well in school so they can improve their families' situations and give back to their country when they grow up. But, as you can imagine, it’s hard to learn or grow without food!!
Meet our team of 11 courageous women: Tanna (team leader), Charlotte, Jordan, Brooke, Ashleigh, Leslie, Anne, Michelle, Alisha, Renate and Judy!
An average meal in Rwanda costs $0.83, which means $25 provides food for a child for a month (30 meals). Feeding children and families is an extension of the gospel and provides students the stability and consistent nutrition necessary to complete their education.
