From December 11-19, a group of Christians, including myself, will be traveling to Iquitos, Peru on a mission trip. The team will have ministry opportunities in community outreach, evangelism, VBS, and possible sports camp. It is our God's desire to know and develop a relationship with all of his creation, and unfortunately many people in the world don't have the convenient access to God's word and a Godly community that we do in the United States. For this reason, I have decided to go on International Mission. A common misconception for mission trips is that they are only for those with certain spiritual gifts (such as evangelism), those who have the necessary resources (time, finances, preparation), and those who are physically abled. The truth is that we are all called to mission! God does not call the equipped, he equips the called (all of us). Regardless of our spiritual gifts, resources, and abilities, we are all called to go and make disciples of all nations. Even if that doesn't mean that you specifically are the one going on mission, you can still be involved and fulfill the Great Commission through support. Prayer is the first way you can get involved. Prayer is the most important aspect in a relationship with Jesus, and the most powerful tool Christian's have in every phase of life. The second way you can get involved is by supporting financially. Giving is a very common and very useful spiritual gift as it makes the majority of missions even possible. Through equipping me with the necessary tools and resources, I believe that God will send me on this mission trip fully prepared and equipped!
