LLU SBH Samoa: Global Practice

The SBH 2019 Samoa Global Practice Trip is scheduled to
occur from July 19-29. This trip is an
extension of the work done by the LLU International Behavioral Health Trauma
Team under the direction of Dean, Dr. Buckles. The focus of this trip is to
provide behavioral health training and services for agencies and organizations in
Samoa.
Students who register for this trip are required to attend preparatory
training in the Community Resiliency Model (CRM). The CRM preparatory training will occur in
late June. There is no cost to students
completing the CRM preparatory training.
The cost of the trip is $2300.00
(includes airfare, lodging, food, and pre-planned excursions). Scholarship will
be provided by SBH to bring the personal (out of pocket) cost down to $1300.00.
Description of trip
goals and activities:
The promotion research informed community resiliency skills grounded in the Aiga
(the values and heritage of the Samoan family);
The promotion and
further inclusion of behavioral health in integrated and coordinated health
care systems; and
The promotion of behavioral health training and services within Samoan agencies and organizations.
A $300.00 deposit for this trip is non-refundable. Individuals cancelling are responsible for nonrefundable airline tickets and associated fees.
