"For
at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as
children of light." (Ephesians 5:8, ESV)
For the past 10 years of my life, I did not walk with the Lord. I turned my back on the Lord because I thought truth could not be found in Him and that my way was sufficient. I was wrong. I walked in the ways of the world and constantly struggled to make sense of it to no avail. I felt a void and longing for something more, something true. My pursuits took me down many philosophical and spiritual paths amidst lifestyle choices and situations that only brought glory to myself and never satisfied the hunger I had. In that place of emptiness, when I was furthest from God, I cried out for Him to make His presence known to me. In His faithfulness, He answered my prayer and revealed Himself to me that I might have wholeness through His salvation. For it is in God’s infinite love for His children that He breathes new life into their souls through the sacrificial blood of His son, Jesus Christ. He brings light to the darkness, and I am a child of light today because of God’s infinite love for me.
God
longs for every person and nation to hear of His gift of salvation that
they might believe and join His kingdom. As someone who has received a blessing
from God through Christ’s sacrifice, I am called to be a blessing to the
nations by bringing the message of Christ’s saving grace that they might follow
Jesus and spread the good news to others.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
I am joining other young singles at Prestonwood Baptist Church as they travel to the Amazon to work with Pastor Elmer in the island city of Parintins and its surrounding villages. Our team will be discipling Amazon villagers and planting churches in two different villages. Additionally, we will be doing medical and dental work and helping the underserved villagers in the region.
“Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart…For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:1, 5-6, ESV)
God is sovereign and is working all things together for the growth of His kingdom. I am stepping in the water toward God because I want Him to use me for His purposes and for the growth of the kingdom. I am asking for your support in the forms of encouragement, prayer, and provision as I join Amazon Outreach and go to the farther reaches of the earth speaking of God’s truth and salvation to those who have never heard. We are all unique parts of a single body and bring glory to God when we act through faith to bring the hope of Christ to all the nations.
“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-7, ESV)
