Hi Friends and Family!
Over the last 2 summers, I have traveled to Uganda with Bless the Children Ministry (BTCM). These trips changed my whole perspective on life. BTCM started a children's home for orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda around 15 years ago and now serves over 300 children. The ministry is a sponsorship program with a heart to be the love of Christ to Uganda's orphaned and vulnerable children, equipping them to become authentic Godly leaders. Unfortunately, there is no current high school in the BTCM community. In response to this need, BTCM has recently announced their 3-year vision which is called "More than Imagined," and their goal is to "shape the minds, hearts, and spirits of 630 children by launching Canaan Christian High School and enhancing Canaan Christian Primary School." I have seen firsthand the impact of this organization on these bright and beautiful children.
Spending time with the Ugandan people profoundly impacted my perspective on what it means to love and be loved. Despite our vast cultural differences, their genuine warmth towards me shattered my preconceived notions and changed how I perceive others. This fostered a deeper appreciation for empathy and kindness in all my relationships. The children at the Canaan Christian Primary School taught me so many things. One of my favorite memories is when the older girls taught me about their cultural dances. I struggled, but they showed great patience as I tried to follow clumsily. They showed me the fullness of life is to do everything wholeheartedly. Ugandans express, with their whole being, their true joy through singing, dancing, and simple conversation. We came to teach them. However, we were the ones learning.
The tireless effort of the BTCM staff in Uganda has saved the lives of all of these children in one form or another. This has inspired me to support their efforts in changing the world one child at a time. I am reaching out because I am passionate about this ministry and know firsthand the impact of how even just a little support goes a long way. I am raising funds for BTCM and would love your support. Specifically, I am raising funds for the new high school, as described above. As a rising high school senior, I understand the importance of a high-quality secondary school education and its long-lasting impact. Currently, only 6 of 100 children graduate from secondary school in Uganda. Because of this need, I am raising $10,000 to help build the new school and support changing this statistic for good.
I appreciate your consideration to donate to this worthy cause. I will keep you updated on my goal throughout the next few weeks! Please reach out if you want more information; I would love to share it with you. -Lucy Kacere
