As One Missions Outreach to Hait

Last year's trip was so incredibly awesome in unexpected ways. It was by no means a vacation. There was a lot of hard work. We saw a lot of tough things like extreme poverty and hopelessness. To amazing part? We got to bring joy and hope to a bunch of people who other wise may not have any.

As a man who loves hard work I thought for sure that the manual labor part of our last trip would be my favorite. We got to to help put a roof on a house that had gone years without one. How cool is that? It was certainly fulfilling, but not as much as I had thought.

The best part of our trip last year was the aspect I looked forward to the least, talking with strangers. For those of you who know me this should came as no surprise. We had an amazing group of young translators with us, who quickly became friends and a part of of our team. They worked along side us while we prayed for people, talked with them about Jesus, played with orphaned kids, and got dirty alongside us. They encouraged us and helped us get uncomfortable. Through these interactions we saw the Holy Spirit move in big ways. It was truly a joy to be a part of.

I don't know the specifics about this upcoming trip. I can't tell you what villages we're going to visit, how many people we'll interact with, or what construction projects we may or may not work on. I can tell you that we're going to show up and do whatever work is put in front of us, to bring joy and hope to the Haitian people, for God's glory and not our own.
