Every year, at about this time, we rescue six to eight new pregnant teens and lovingly welcome them into our maternity homes in Kenya. We affirm that they are valued and loved. But, because Kenya is currently in a full lockdown, the rescues have ceased. The moment the lockdown is lifted there will be girls waiting to be rescued.
We want to be prepared and ready to rescue these girls that are waiting.
Operating expenses in Kenya for our three homes, food, staff, classes, healthcare, and baby care adds up to $35,000 a month. Our goal for "She is Priceless" 2020 is to raise two months of operating expenses so that when the lockdown is lifted we will be in a financial position to rescue new girls.
Just like so many of you, this is a time of unknowns and uncertainties. There are a lot of things we are not sure of, but we believe God is not finished with this work. Our goal of $70,000 will help us keep our operations running in Kenya so that after this global crisis has lifted, we can continue to do what God has called us to:
Rescue a Girl.
Empower a Family.
Redeem a Generation.
Today, May 12, we are asking all of our "She is Priceless" participants to consider giving, draw a heart on their hand, post it on social media using the hashtag #sheisloved
, and tag us @mercyhouseglobal to remind every women around the world that she is not forgotten and She is Priceless!
Mercy House Global exists to engage, empower, and disciple women around the globe in Jesus’ name. We provide for the rescue of pregnant girls in Kenya and provide a home for them. In 2010, we opened Rehema (Swahili word for “mercy”) House with six open beds and prayers that God would allow us to rescue vulnerable girls in need of hope and healing.
As of April 2019, 54 pregnant girls between the ages of 12-16 have been rescued from the most desperate of situations.
The girls who live at Rehema House receive maternal care, counseling, education, and a safe place to heal from the trauma they have endured. Mercy House Global also brings business training and dignified jobs to family members of some of the girls in the program, so that one day they will have a safe home to return to with their little ones! The goal is to break the vicious cycle of poverty and abuse through rescue, care, and dignified jobs.
Donate today, and help us change the lives of these girls and their families!
