I met Florence on my first trip to Uganda in 2016.  She was part of a small group of church leaders' wives that had gathered for a conference I was to be teaching.  Before arriving in Nebbi, I had grand plans of how the Bible Study/Women's Conference was going to go but God had other plans.  Not long after we started our day long meeting, my translator got up to handle some logistics and never returned!  There I was in front of a handful of women, most who didn't speak English, with no way to communicate what I had prepared.  Only Florence continued to listen intently and smile encouragingly.  When I asked if there were things I could be praying for her, she spoke of how hard the past year had been for her family.  How there was no water close to their home which meant no way to grow crops for food and income.  I was overwhelmed by her honesty and openness as she shared. We prayed together that God would help her to trust, even when she could not see his plan.

Later in the week Florence and her husband Humphrey welcomed us to their home and  prepared a full meal for us, the best of all they had.  There was such a sense of fellowship as we shared that meal, strangers from two different sides of the world, united in our love for Christ.  We prayed together again before leaving, that they would continue to trust God for their needs and be faithful to share his love with those around them.

God put her on my heart to pray for, many times over the next year, and when I returned to Nebbi the following summer, what joy to be reunited with Florence.  I was humbled beyond measure to also meet the newest member of their family, baby Molly!  God used failed plans and hard circumstances to build a relationship rooted in Him.

This summer, I have the privilege of returning to Uganda.  We will be sharing the good news of Christ with those living in the refugee camps as well as spending time with believers, and dear friends like Florence, to encourage and support them as they advance the gospel.   Would you please consider supporting me on this trip? The total cost I need to raise is $3,500. I can apply for a scholarship from our church for 25% of the trip cost, but 50% needs to have been received before I can apply.
