Mweruka Junior School provides a quality education to +/-400 underprivileged children in a very poor area near Mweruka Village, Uganda.
Malnutrition and anemia are
prevalent in Uganda and particularly in rural, underserved areas. Hungry children are less attentive in school
and more prone to illness causing them to miss school. Mweruka Junior School provides a meal each school day for each child.
This meal with nutrition fortified porridge is served four days of the
school week and a “main” meal of potatoes, carrots, beans, fruits and sardines is provided one meal a week. Twice yearly the children are dewormed and following
deworming the children are given a course of vitamin A tablets.
The cost of providing these meals and deworming is ~$3/child/month.
We are asking everyone to donate at least $30/month which is enough to provide meals for 10 children for a month. However, if you are able to donate more it would be gratefully received. Even donating a portion of the $30/month or a one-time donation would be helpful. If you are not able to donate, please pass the opportunity to someone else by promoting this fundraiser on Facebook, Twitter and in your other social circles.
Pure Charity and Blessings of Joy are recognized as charitable organizations under IRS code as 501(c)(3) and as such every dollar you donate is tax deductible as a charitable donation.
Thanks for taking a moment to read this and thank you for giving. Every bit helps children in desperate need.
