Reverend Stephen Olika Enenu, the Principal of ALARM Technical and Peace Building Centre in Pader, a district in northern Uganda, is proud to say that when a student comes to ALARM Technical, they will acquire two things: God and skills. ALARM Technical is a vocational school founded in Pader in 2010. Today, it boasts 230 students, 32 full-time staff and 4 part-time staff. ALARM Technical trains students from ages 15 to 25 in many different skills, including: hairdressing, hotel management, tailoring, agriculture, building and construction, carpentry, welding and metal fabrication, solar PV technician training, driving classes, and motor vehicle mechanics. In addition to these skills, ALARM Technical offers Discipleship Training classes.

According to ALARM-Uganda’s Country Director, Liberty Muhereza: “ALARM Technical and Peace Building Center in Pader was started in order to meet the dire need of providing skills to youth who missed an opportunity to have formal education due to over twenty years of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) war in northern Uganda so that they can raise income and be self-employed. The school also trains them in servant leadership based on Christian principles.”

ALARM Technical is doing a great work in the Northern Uganda region but it still faces many challenges, including raising funds to build a girls' dormitory. The dormitory will provide the girls enrolled in ALARM Technical school a safe and welcoming place to live while class is in session.
