School of Behavioral Health Child Life Mission Trip- China 2018
Hello everyone!
A lot of you might know I am currently in a Masters program to be a Child Life Specialist. What is a Child Life Specialist? Well what we do is we provide coping techniques to children that are admitted to hospitals and interventions to make the procedures less frightening. We also help families with coping with a child’s hospitalization. Our job is to make their stay in a hospital as comfortable as possible. We also help families cope with grief caused by an illness or death.
I have been invited to be part of a mission trip to China to provide teddy bear clinics and child life services to children at hospitals in China. This will allow children to learn about the different procedures they might have to go through in a less frightening way. We will also be giving lectures to medical staff promoting medical play and the field of child life. It will be a great experience for me to grow and learn through hands-on experience.
This does come with a cost and I would greatly appreciate any help that I could get so that I could participate in this amazing experience. Thank you very much in advance!
