Hello everyone!
I am one month away from traveling to Jinga, the Eastern Region of Uganda, October 4-15 2018 on a
Sole Hope Experience Trip.
Sole Hope is a non-profit organization dedicated to
offering hope, through prevention of foot-related diseases. Many people in
Uganda suffer from jiggers, a foot parasite. This parasite “burrows into a
person’s skin and latches onto blood vessels.” As a result, children and adults
are prevented from daily activities, due to pain, itching, and infection. Sole
Hope seeks to combat this problem, by providing the following:
- Medical care, by removing jiggers
- Education on jiggers, and how to remain jigger
free
- Shoes, to continue the process of healing
and prevent further jigger problems
- Jobs for local Ugandans
Sole Hope is a wonderful organization that I've grown to love these past few months and I'm excited to experience the work that is done to protect the precious feet of precious people, and to experience all that Uganda has to offer.
I am so excited to say that
96% of my trip has been paid for by generous donors! To all those who have contributed, no matter how big or small,
THANK YOU! Your support means so much.
Again, thank you for support, and please continue to pray for me and my team as we prepare to travel in one month. Pray that our hearts and minds will be prepared to serve, love, and grow with one another in community but also with the people in Uganda. Pray for impact. Pray for good health for both our team and the local Ugandans. Pray for treated feet, big smiles, and an experience that will teach us what hope means.
Stay updated on my trip with my blog, www.graceandgrit.blog.
Grace and peace,
Rebecca Freeze
