Historical Mendoza is located in western Argentina at the foothills of the Andes Mountains. Founded by the Spanish in 1591, Mendoza is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the country. Before the 1560s the area was populated by three tribes, the Huarpes, the Puelches and the Incas. The Huarpes devised a system of irrigation that was later developed by the Spanish. The irrigation trenches (acequias) are still active and can be seen along most city streets.
Mendoza is famous for its vineyards and wine making as well as growing olives and producing olive oil. Several museums and universities are located in Mendoza. Tourists come from all of the world to hike and ski the Andes.
Even though many tourists are willing to make the “off the beaten path” journey to Mendoza, there has been very little evangelical focus there due to the remoteness. It is much easier and economical to reach more populated destinations such as Buenos Aires and Cordoba.
Please pray about joining this unique opportunity to experience Jesus’ Great Commission found in Acts 1:8 “…you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth”! We will be reflecting God’s love through medical initiatives and spreading the Good News of the Gospel in the neighborhoods. We have a goal of starting 10 to 15 home churches during the week that will continue and grow after our departure.
