The decision has been made to follow my passion full-time with helping others, while being creative with ways to do so. I've decided to focus all of my energy on raising awareness for projects directly impacting food desert challenges, and accepting it as my ministry. A ministry that I am asking you to be my ministry partner in.

Statistics show that there are more than 35 food deserts in the metro Atlanta area alone. My goal is to eliminate each food desert one by one, using urban agriculture as a platform to do so. The target areas will include (but not limited to), the 30318 area code, and stretching to the 30311 area code (Campbellton Rd.) 

There is an extremely huge disparity in making healthy lifestyle choices when it comes to food consumption in Fulton County communities and schools. In Georgia alone there are over 1.5 million residents (including 500,000 children) who live in food deserts. According to reports from the USDA, more than 35 food deserts have been identified inside the perimeter, whereas experts have discovered that there is a direct correlation between food deserts and the state’s high rates of obesity and chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and various types of cancers. Nearly one-third of all deaths in Georgia are a direct result from stroke and heart disease, which are among the top three leading causes of death. 

That's why I started this fundraiser on Pure Charity. It's no longer "okay" for this to be the status quo. Something has to be done, and as long as it's within my power to do so, I'll be combatting this issue one way or another.

The money donated will fund projects that will continuously provide a programmatic approach to aquaponics, while teaching sustainability, self-sufficiency and healthy lifestyle choices. Updates on progress upon implementation of these projects will be provided to show real results and real lives impacted!
