Im going to Zimbabwe for 2 months this summer, to love on orphans. These kiddos live in orphanages run by "aunties". The aunties are so wonderful- they give everything they have to keep these kids happy, healthy, and safe. My teammate Heidi Olyaei & I will be helping the aunties any way we can while also giving individual attention, cuddles and love to the these kiddos. I get teary eyed just thinking about these babies I'm going to get to hug!!
- The country has one of the world’s highest inflation and unemployment rates, & one of the lowest life expectancies in the world.
- Females can expect to live 58.7 years and males survive for 57.3 years, on average.
- HIV/AIDS is prevalent in the country and has been cited as the cause of death of thousands of people in the last few years.
- Chronic malnutrition causes 27% of children under the age of five to experience stunted growth (low height for their age).
- 76% of the country’s rural households live on less than $1.25 per day.

Below are some details about the trip :)
Trip Cost: $4870A Jesus Church has partnered with Hands of Hope for the last 11 years and will be sending a team this summer to minister to orphans and children from hard places. Zimbabwe has the most orphans per capita in the world with 1.8 million of the 14 million population orphaned. This trip will consist of continuing to build on the relationships Hear The Cry has established with the 60 kids it sponsors along with connecting with other children, pastors, and projects in the community surrounding Harare, the nation’s capital. The team will minister through taking the kids on retreats, providing skills training camps, and hosting VBS. Nearly 100% of the work and time on this trip is compassionate care work with orphans.
Important Information about Hear The Cry Trips:
- Trip cost includes airfare, food, lodging, insurance, ground transportation, supplies and excursions. Team members are responsible for any additional snacks and souvenirs during travel.
- Upon acceptance to the team, a non-refundable deposit of $25 will be required as you set up your fundraising and online profile. 50% of the total cost is due two months prior to departure, and the remaining balance two weeks before departure.
